When it comes to the best things to do in Arizona, we recommend visiting Horseshoe Bend. It’s a horseshoe-shaped part of the Colorado River near the town of Page.
With its beautiful views and different angles to take amazing pictures, it’s a must-visit!
Horseshoe Bend is about 2 hours drive away from the Grand Canyon. The overlook is 1280 m or 4,200 ft above sea level and the Colorado river below it is 975m or 3,200 ft above sea level, making it a 305 m or 1,000 ft drop! As you get closer to the overlook, you’ll see the beautiful Colorado River, making this place one of my all-time favorites. Not only did it offer stunning views from all angles but we also got engaged here, making Horseshoe Bend more memorable.
We were able to find a few great spots to sit and relax for a bit. It wasn’t too crowded and everyone kept their distance.
Visitors from around the globe visit here to admire and enjoy this historic attraction. Before you have the chance to see the iconic view, your first challenge is to make your way up a mildly steep hill through sand. The walk from the parking lot to the overlook only took us about 10 mins maybe less.
I recommend going there late in the morning or midday. Horseshoe Bend is open 24 hours and I recommend staying for a beautiful sunset or even driving up early to see the sunrise.
The entrance fee was only $10 per vehicle, making it an affordable outing.
It can get very windy and I recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes. Also, don’t forget to take water.
