Fiji is made up of the mainland and groups of islands. Denarau is the island closest to the mainland, attached by a causeway. Then there are two groups of islands; the Mamanucas and the Yasawas. These islands are only accessible by boat or plane, meaning a secluded and romantic reputation.
The islands of Fiji are absolutely stunning. They are authentic and feel relatively untouched. They are by far my favourite place, to date.
We chose to stay at Tokoriki Island Resort on the adult-only Mamanuca islands for 3 nights and were blown away by the place. The beauty of the island, teamed with the fantastic accommodation and super friendly staff who went out of their way for you, really was out of this world. We had romantic walks, hired boats and spent time in hammocks by the sea, soaking up the atmosphere. The food was fabulous. The drinks were flowing. And my favourite part: no children! The ambience was relaxed and peaceful.
From the moment we arrived by boat, our experience at Tokoriki was perfect. We were greeted in typical Fijian style, by music and song. The pace was very laid back, definitely on ‘Fiji time’ and with ‘sega na lega’ (no worries). This is how the Fijians live their lives and it’s fabulously contagious to all those stepping foot on the island.
Our stay was perfect. We were treated like royalty. Our romantic dinner by candlelight at the infinity pool had the best ocean views.
As a Mum of two, enjoying romantic escapes is important in helping us to keep the fire burning. Looking back on our holiday photos is uplifting, full of happy memories and brings a sense of nostalgia as we think back.
We’d highly recommend this romantic getaway whether for an elopement or a vacation. You won’t be disappointed!
