I recommend setting up a romantic picnic at Sweeny’s Reserve as an affordable date idea in Brisbane.
Sweeny’s Reserve is a lovely, quiet park in the Northside of Brisbane. By far, one of the best picnic spots North Brisbane visitors can enjoy because there’s luscious green grass to relax on next to a scenic river/pond. If you go for a relaxing stroll, you will also come across a bridge and gazebo where you can set up your tripod to take some romantic couple photos if you like.
Our affordable picnic setup included two pillows, a blanket, and a picnic basket set (including glasses, plates and cutlery). We also packed insect repellent, paper towels and a garbage bag. We bought all our snacks at Coles just before we went, including stuffed peppers, salami, potato chips, mandarins, nuts and drinks (Pepsi and coconut water).
The park is especially beautiful around the late afternoon and during sunset. There are some picnic tables that you can sit at, but we love laying on the soft grass. There is a lavatory in the park too, so you can feel comfortable spending a few hours there without worrying about what to do if you need a bathroom.
If you like being active and want to spice up your date with some adventure, you can plan a double or triple date with some other couples and book an affordable laser tag rental kit with Laser Commando to play within the park. Sweeny’s Reserve is perfect for laser tag because it has big, beautiful trees and hills in certain areas that are great for hiding behind.
There’s plenty of parking spaces too. We love it there 🙂
