Set flight over the Heart Reef

Within the breathtakingly beautiful Great Barrier Reef lies a perfectly heart-shaped coral formation known as the Heart Reef. It was one of the main reasons we visited the area, in addition to Whitehaven Beach.

We celebrated Valentine’s Day with a scenic flight over the Heart Reef and Whitehaven Beach with GSL Aviation. It was one of THE best experiences we’ve shared together. The beauty of the Whitsunday Islands from the sky is indescribable, ranging from gorgeous changes in watercolours, the iconic swirls of Whitehaven Beach, hidden beaches and so much more.

The highlight was of course finally flying over the Heart Reef. It was a dream come true for me to share this moment with my husband.

Scenic flights are pricier than many other activities, but the views we enjoyed were worth every penny. We flew in a six-seat plane, and it cost AUD 300 for the two of us to fly with five other people and the pilot. What I loved most about a six-seat plane is that everyone has a window seat!

We felt safe flying with GSL Aviation, and so did some of the other passengers that were nervous to fly at first.

Be sure to book this experience six months in advance – especially if you would like to enjoy it on a special occasion like Valentine’s Day.
