Our romantic getaway to O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat

It was a scenic drive to O’Reilly’s from Brisbane for us. I could feel any stress from our usual daily grind being left behind as we headed past mountains, streams and rainforest.

We received a great schedule of activities when we checked in at the retreat and were pleasantly surprised at how affordable many of the things there are to do were. Some include:

Marshmallows and hot chocolate around the campfire – AUD 9 per person
We enjoyed our little date around the cozy campfire while feeding each other marshmallows 🙂

A glow worm tour – AUD 30 per person
While exploring the nature trail with a guide, we were dumbfounded by the clarity of the starry sky above us. We loved every moment of learning many interesting facts about the surrounding area and wildlife. Seeing the glow worms in the cave was amazing – their lights shun as bright as the stars above.

Flying fox – AUD 35 per person
We walked up “Happy Hill” and found some seats with a great view which we admired together while catching our breaths. Soon it was time to slide down a zip line over incredible views. We were nervous at first but had an absolute blast doing this.

Best of all, some of the most romantic things to do were FREE!

The Tree Top Walk
We loved holding hands while strolling through the luscious greenery, romantic pathways and swinging bridges. It was during this activity that we came across a hidden romantic gem where you have to climb up a ladder to a tiny space for two to enjoy some magical sunsets. I won’t say more than this so you can enjoy discovering it yourself while out exploring together.

The Infinity Pool
Oh my… one of the best we’ve had the pleasure of swimming in together. We watched some magical sunsets from there. There’s also an incredible wooden spa experience to enjoy with your partner at the Lost World Spa if you can.

If you have a little more money to splurge, the buffet breakfast is a treat, and the seating area has stunning views to appreciate.

We stayed in room 33 (one of the Mountain View Rooms) that looks over the McPherson mountain ranges. Ours was one of the most affordable room options – if you have the budget for it, definitely upgrade to one of the villas that feature an outdoor spa on the deck for an extra romantic stay. We look forward to staying there ourselves next time!

While you are in the area, think about treating yourselves to a romantic gourmet picnic date at the O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards.
