Jewellery Shop Eredi Jovon

One of the most romantic things to do in Venice has to be buying your partner a piece of Italian jewellery as a gift.

While exploring Venice with my hubby, we discovered the jewellery shop Eridi Jovon that is based on one of the most beautiful and oldest bridges in Venice. The Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge) spans the Grand Canal in Venice in an area which was one first to be constructed in Venice.

Walking into the Eridi Jovon Venetian jewellery shop and looking at the stunning pieces before me, I quickly became mesmerised by the intricate faces of the Italian cameos. It’s as though they drew me in to have a closer look and captured my imagination with a different story for each design I was looking at.

What makes cameos extra special is that it takes years to develop the skill of carving their delicate details into shells. The process itself is a fascinating reflection of history and brilliant expertise which adds to the delight of owning such a valuable hand-made piece.

The Eridi Jovon shop is a family owned business where they have now for three generations been making these stunning traditional Italian creations.

I was over the moon when my hubby announced that he would like to buy me a set of cameo jewellery for my birthday. The catch was having to decide which between all of the stunning pieces, would become my very own cameo jewellery forever.

Luckily I had some guidance from one of the shop owners that made my decision easier. He described choosing your cameo as somewhat of an experience that would be similar to finding a soulmate. It’s as though you form a connection with a piece you look at, it speaks to you through the pictures and images on it, and you just know it’s the one for you when you can’t stop thinking about it.

Without realising I had picked the “Venice Lady” cameo which is exclusively available at Eredi Jovon. According to the owners of the shop, she is a famous representation of Venice, a model that was inspired by the painting “Neptun offers the treasures of the sea to Venice” by Tiepolo.

My cameo set is by far one of my most treasured gifts from our travels together. Whenever I wear it I’m reminded of the overwhelming excitement I felt in being able to choose any set as a gift from my loving husband and that my dream of travelling to Venice with him came true.
