One of the best free or cheap date ideas Brisbane couples can enjoy is packing some picnic goodies and heading off to Tinchi Tamba Reserve Wetlands.
What makes it possibly the best picnic spot Brisbane couples can enjoy is that many of the well-maintained picnic tables have beautiful river views or you can choose to bring a rug and set your picnic closer to the water edge.
There’s also plenty of luscious grass and large trees that provide shade if you just want to go there to relax in nature.
We went on a Saturday afternoon, and it was surprisingly quiet, which made me wonder if it’s a secret spot locals keep to themselves – it’s certainly stunning enough to be!
We were greeted by three curious kangaroos that just made my day – as a South African expat living in Brisbane; I’m not used to seeing these cuties this close-up in nature!
There are plenty of parking spots right next to the best spots with water views, so you won’t have to unpack and carry your picnic items far. There are also public toilets, so you can conveniently explore the area for longer.
There is a lovely boardwalk to the right side of the river, ideal for a romantic, relaxing stroll. It’s around 1.5 kilometers long and forms a loop that leads you back to where you started.
DO NOT forget to bring mosquito repellant if you plan to stay and enjoy the incredible sunset views at Tinchi Tamba Reserve Wetlands!
